The heritage structures in the state are all set to get a facelift with
the formation of a special three-member committee under the state’s
Urban Development Ministry.
The committee headed by retired IAS officer P K Ghosh, with Rajkot
Municipal Commissioner Dinesh Brahmbhatt and Ahmedabad DCP (Zone-V) as
members, will look after the heritage properties that do not fall under
the Archaeological department
....
The funds will largely be drawn from the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban
Renewal Mission (JNNURM). However, it is only the four major cities -
Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot - that are part of the JNNURM
project, which aims at integrated development of the urban centres.
