PANJIM, JULY 7 - Admissions to first year of Goa College of Architecture has been deferred following a decision taken by Council of Architecture.

PANJIM, JUL 13 – The Bombay High Court today allowed the State government to go ahead with the admission process for the first year of the five-year B Arch course at Goa College of Architecture.

The court however, asked the government to file an affidavit by August 1 to explain when exactly it would comply with the recommendations laid down by the Council for Architecture (CoA), an autonomous body of Government of India.

As reported first by the Herald, CoA last week declared ‘No Admission’ for Goa College of Architecture from this academic year.

The high court of Bombay at Goa on Tuesday set aside directions given by the Council of Architecture ( CoA) to freeze admissions for First year B.Arch degree course in the Goa college of architecture on grounds of failure to ensure minimum standards.

The state government had challenged their communication dated June 14, 2007 and May 8, 2008 to stop admissions for the academic year 2007-08 and 2008-09 respectively .

A division bench comprising justice S A Bobde and justice R C Chavan has held that the council has no such powers to issue directions.
