Swati Ramanathan, Town Planning expert, on Bangalore's
priorities this year.
What should Bangalore's priorities be this year?
The government of India introduced the National Urban
Renewal Mission (NURM) in December 2005, with
financial incentives to the states and municipalities.
Sixty-three cities have been chosen. Bangalore is one
of them. We should make maximum use of this.

=====

btw, Swati (and Ramesh) Ramanathan founded a civil
society enterprise that advocates participatory
planning

key-people in this must be frightfully well-known
(site only has names, mostly just first). Swati (and
Ramesh) Ramanathan seem also eminent (they got a
Citizen Extraordinaire Award, from real-estate cos)

Swati Ramanathan moderated Track4 (Involving People)
in the AEC World Expo conferences in December 2005.
The 3 other scheduled speakers included Sudhir Vohra
and Bimal Patel (consultants to USAID-sponsored MCD
Bill / Delhi pilot)

I am told theirs was the only civil society enterprise
involved in JnNURM tool-kit making
