Anti-CM MLA in expert demolition committee
NEW DELHI: Dr S C Vats, a member of the dissident camp in the Delhi Congress
which opposes CM Sheila Dikshit, has been nominated by the urban development
ministry (UDM) as a member of the expert committee which will look into the
court-driven demolitions.
A former chairman of the public accounts committee, Vats resigned in the
wake of differences with Dikshit.
The nomination of Vats, MLA from Shakarpur Basti assumes significance in the
wake of Ajay Maken taking over as minister of state in the urban development
ministry.
The opposition parties are represented by state BJP chief Harsh Vardhan. The
five-member committee will be headed by former L-G of Delhi Tejinder Khanna.
Among the expert included in the panel are renowned chief city planner
Mohammad Shafi. Other expert included in the committee is E F N Ribeiro,
well-known architect and currently a visiting professor at School of
Planning and Architecture...
