A new deal for Delhi under new Master Plan

NEW DELHI: The decks were cleared on Friday to give major relief to large
sections of the Capital's citizens facing threats of demolition and sealing
of properties with the Delhi Development Authority proposing major
amendments to the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 and forwarding it to the Union
Urban Development Ministry for an early notification and implementation.

Highly placed sources said the changes in the Master Plan were cleared by
DDA at its meeting on Friday after a prolonged "session'' under the guidance
of Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken. DDA's elected
members Mahabal Mishra and Jile Singh Chauhan also took a strong stand on
the issue during the meeting.

Under the new Master Plan, in residential plotted schemes mixed land use
would be permissible on the basis of local area plan to be prepared by the
local body. Any trade or activity involving any obnoxious, hazardous,
inflammable, non-compatible or polluted substance or process would however
not be permitted.
