Baijal may be new CVC
THE CORRIDORS of Nirman Bhawan are rife with rumours
that Urban Development Secretary Anil Baijal may
become the Central Vigilance Commissioner once he
retires later this year.
Alternately, he may also be made the head of the new
Urban Regulatory Authority that is being proposed. The
authority will take over many of the powers of the DDA
and the MCD as far as land use changes are concerned.
The authority will also be vested with appellate
powers for complaints about land use violations and
building bye-law violations. This dynamic officer
certainly has his work cut out for him, post
retirement
