MCD puts condition on land transfer to govt bodies

New Delhi, May 17: THE standing committee of the MCD today framed a new
policy for transferring land to government bodies like Delhi Metro Rail
Services (DMRC) and Delhi Development Authority (DDA). From now on, the MCD
will put a prior condition on the body requesting the transfer of land, to
ensure that the land is used for the purpose that is promised.
According to councillor Jitender Kochar, leader of the House, it has been
noticed that the land given to DMRC for developing the Metro line in various
areas is being used for different other purposes. “There have been cases
where land bought at subsidised rates has been sold off by the DMRC at high
market prices for commercial flats in Shahadra zone,” he said.
