Now, Metro plans special IT zone

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is the
latest to join the SEZ bandwagon with plans to develop
an information technology special economic zone (SEZ)
at Shastri Park. DMRC's proposal was formally cleared
by the Board of Approvals, the single window agency
for SEZs on Monday. The SEZ will come up on a
15-hectare site at Shastri Park, where DMRC has
already constructed an IT Park.

According to sources, DMRC had prepared the SEZ
proposal after a suggestion from its IT Park tenants.
If an IT SEZ is developed at the same location, the
users will get tax benefits and other incentives also.
