Anti-demolition Act won't be stayed: SC

Abraham Thomas | New Delhi

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to stay the Delhi Laws (Special
Provisions) Act, 2006, which declared a one-year moratorium on unauthorised
construction and sealing action in the Capital.

Issuing notices to the Centre, Delhi Government and MCD, a Vacation Bench of
Justices Arijit Pasayat and RV Raveendran posted the matter for hearing on
July 17 before the Bench headed by Chief Justice YK Sabharwal which earlier
passed the sealing orders. The petition was jointly filed by a front
representing RWAs and an NGO, Citizens Voice.
...............
Meanwhile, while the Centre sees no "cause of action" on SC's observations
as they do not impact its "operation" suspending the court-ordered MCD
drives , Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit refused to comment, saying the matter is
sub judice and her government is not a party in the case. Dikshit has asked
Chief Secretary R Narayanaswami to prepare State Government's view on this
matter
