Plans are afoot to tempt international funding agencies with a robust
revenue model with safe recovery of loans. As part of its reforms in local
bodies, the government aims to improve property tax collections, the main
revenue stream for a municipality. Chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a
recently held review meeting and asked the municipal administration
officials to implement the GIS system in each of the healthy municipalities,
which qualify for Union government grants under the Jawaharlal Nehru
National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
