I just caught a glimpse of the NIUA perspective plan. I am particularly
amused and at the same time appalled by the quotes that act as a preamble
for the chapters. While they include quotes fromMumford, System's Theory,
Adam Smith etc !!! they do little to embody these with the body of the plan
and its rhetoric.
My favorite one being at
http://www.niua.org/PPDpdf/Chapter%204.pdf Its by
Sir Balthazar Gerbier- "Too many stairs and back doors make thieves and
whores". Someone give these people Lefebvre's "The Right to the City" or
some of Iris Marion Young's- Justice and The Politics of Difference. What
does the quote mean?
Poonam, do you by any chance have any idea as to the politics of this plan?
How was it conceived? Who funded this thingy?
Gita, does this plan part of the larger project of "obfuscation of dissent"?
The report smacks of safe neutrality and an uncritical embracing of what you
[Gita] call the shift from entitlement to endowment.
