iCONGO-l -- Indian Confederation of NGO's (iCONGO-L)

About iCONGO-l
English (USA)

iCONGO- Indian Confederation of NGOs is a collective hub, think tank and the voice of the Citizens and NGO sector which, in Gandhiji's / Shaheed Bhagat Singh's words, represents the people of India. Gandhiji / Shaheed Bhagat Singh also gave us the talisman to be the change we want to see in the world as Good Citizens, by responsibly and selflessly encouraging good governance for a truly progressive and functional democracy. Being the change always starts from us first, and iCONGO is the first and only organisation in the world that does not raise donations/grants/charitable funds for itself, nor retains any money it facilitates for NGOs from companies and individuals. iCONGO in a nutshell is a people sector movement. We wish to promote citizen action & involvement for social justice. iCONGO works as a selfless catalytic facilitator for pre- screened NGOs, chosen after thorough due diligence by a reputed and independent audit firm who follow the process of the omega ratings for encouraging absolute transparency, accountability and efficient program & fund management . iCONGO sustains it operations purely through a proactive force of professionals who give time as citizen volunteers and through consultancies for CSR and Cause Related marketing strategies and research. iCONGO is now dubbed by various people as the hallmark of trust and Gateway for social investment, to promote 'Philanthropy for Social Justice', where our mantra is "Don't just give money, give yourself, your mind and heart holistically by getting involved, understanding issues and then support them as active advocates to BE THE CHANGE". iCONGO works with NGOs to empower them to understand that fund raising is not just about chasing money and works with citizens to get them involved with the cause by understanding these issues and going beyond just giving. iCONGO is mentored by leading development leaders, intellectuals, academicians, captains of industry, media professionals, statesmen, civil servants, movie & sports personalities, and most of all citizen volunteers as activists who want to be the change. Together as ONE we can RIGHT every WRONG, be it with issues related to hunger, children, marginalised communities, human rights, education, livelihood, animal rights, environment and every cause that impassions you and us. We have actively partnered with NGOs, Government, multilateral and bilateral agencies including the UN and World Bank as strategic knowledge partners to put together campaigns and forums to address issues like Climate Change, gender issues, female foeticide, issues related to people living with disability and HIV Aids. The Right every Wrong Conclave and the Karmaveer Puraskaar (www.righteverywrong.com) is an annual event organised by iCONGO on 26th November, every year to sensitise citizens about social issues and create citizen involvement in all sectors, to drive social action for building a just, humane and responsible society. The Conclave brings together the representative bodies from all the sectors- Govt., Corporates, SME, Student, Media- to share the common platform so as to mainstream and simplify issues in the citizen sector, to create proactive citizen involvement and social action thus automatically promoting social responsibility in all sectors. Thus as ONE PEOPLE OF THIS SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY we encourage 26th November (the day our constitutional pledge was adopted in 1949) as the "National Social Justice and Citizen Action day. We have an online media and news movement www.dishoooom.com the voice for the voiceless where the people sector and citizen reporters get to WRITE every WRONG on social & political issues and today ( still in test launch mode) it has an outreach to over half million people in India and overseas and gets over 1,25,000 hits every month. To know more about us, please visit our website, www.icongo.in. iCONGO is a citizen movement as "we the people are we the power". One day we may go beyond to ensuring highest standards of credibility, transparency and accountability from all sectors, thus creating a peoples movement for social justice for all. OUR passion mantra is "Don't just give money on emotional provocation as you cannot change the life of a child or any other issue by giving some money for one , two or five years. Practice philanthropy for social justice i.e. give yourself, your little time and involvement for understanding social issues and the cause and actively advocating to be the change. Make a JUST social investment because it is not charity but justice that is wanting in the world and we all need to ask for accountability and transparency" because people have always been and led the change and no one else can.
